Egypt striker Mohamed Zidan has been sentenced to six years in jail for writing three bad cheques.
According to Egyptian news reports, a court has ruled that Zidan is to serve six years in prison after he was convicted of issuing three bad cheques to an Egyptian real estate company.
The striker is one of Egypt’s most successful footballers of the past decade, having won the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund as well as winning the Africa Cup of Nations twice.
Zidan, who is currently club less, has been temporarily working as a sports analyst for Al-Jazeera Sports.
