Writer: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie discusses career!

Writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie discusses her career

The late giant of literature Chinua Achebe described the novelist as “fearless” and said she came, as a writer, “almost fully made”.

Her first book, Purple Hibiscus (2003) was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction.  Her second novel, Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), set before and during the Biafran War, won the prize in 2007. Her latest book, Americanah (2013), follows the experiences of a Nigerian woman who immigrates to the United States.
She talks to Razia Iqbal about challenging perceptions of Africa,  the importance of telling women’s stories and how moving to America to study made her aware of her race and identity.
