Samsung Galaxy S5 Vs LG G2 - Compared

Samsung Galaxy S5This has been going on for a while now but, as both makers are keener than ever to outdo each other in the race to the Android top, their flagships are only getting more and more alike. The biggest difference is now in the timing, which is also part of the game - and that's what's made it actually more interesting to watch. The two rival Korean flagships are travelling in different orbits - only to meet on one's way down and another's way up.
Back when it launched, the LG G2 was the embodiment of LG's determination to better the Samsung Galaxy S4 in every way possible. The HTC One and the Sony Xperia Z were reduced to collateral damage - the eyes of the LG G2 set on the main target alone.
LG G2Fast-forward a few quarters, and the G2 is on its way ... out. We wouldn't say down unless it's down in history as one of the best things to come out of LG's handheld labs for quite a while. And it sure is going to try and cash in one last time, especially now that it's still in perfectly good shape and the new crop of flagships are charging big buck.

On the way in, or up, or whatever you think fits, the Galaxy S5 has leapt ahead of its predecessor with water resistance, a superior camera, slightly bigger screen, a fingerprint scanner, beefier battery, the new Snapdragon 801 chipset and 4K video recording among other things. That means the LG G2 is, at least in some departments, lagging behind as well.

The daughter of a wealthy Fifa delegate who helped in the controversial decision to name Qatar and Russia future hosts of the World Cup received a £2million payment from a business associate of her father with Qatari links, it has been claimed.
Antonia Wigand Teixeira, the daughter of Brazil's Fifa representative Ricardo Teixeira, was paid the large sum of money in 2011.
It is not certain from whom the funds came, but it is thought that Sandro Rossell, the former president of Qatar-sponsored Barcelona football club, was behind the transfer.

Another Stowaway Teenager Arrested - Raises Airport Security Review

A 15-year-old boy found his way onto an airport's tarmac and climbed into a jetliner's wheel well, then flew for five freezing hours to Hawaii — a misadventure that forced authorities to take a hard look at the security system that protects the nation's airline fleet.
The boy, who lives in Santa Clara, Calif., hopped out of the left rear wheel well of a Boeing 767 on the Maui airport tarmac Sunday, according to the FBI. Authorities found the high school student wandering the airport grounds with no identification. He was questioned by the FBI and taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was found to be unharmed.

7.2 Earthquake Shakes Acapulco, Destroys Lives & Properties

A powerful magnitude-7.2 earthquake shook central and southern Mexico on Friday, sending panicked people into the streets. Some walls cracked and fell, but there were no reports of major damage or casualties.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake at about 9:30 a.m. (10:30 a.m. EDT; 1430 GMT) was centered on a long-dormant faultline northwest of the Pacific resort of Acapulco, where many Mexicans are vacationing for the Easter holiday.
It was felt across at least a half-dozen states and Mexico's capital, where it collapsed several walls and left larges cracks in some facades. Debris covered sidewalks around the city.
Around the region, there were reports of isolated and minor damage, such as fallen fences, trees and broken windows. Chilpancingo, capital of the southern state of Guerrero, where the quake was centered, reported a power outage, but service was restored after 15 minutes.
In Acapulco, 59-year-old Enedina Ramirez Perez was having breakfast, enjoying the holiday with about 20 family members, when her hotel started to shake.
"People were turning over chairs in their desperation to get out, grabbing children, trampling people," the Mexico City woman said. "The hotel security was excellent and starting calming people down. They got everyone to leave quietly."
The quake struck 170 miles (273 kilometers) southwest of Mexico City, where people fled high-rises and took to the streets, many in still in their bathrobes and pajamas on their day off.
"I started to hear the walls creak and I said, 'Let's go,'" said Rodolfo Duarte, 32, who fled his third-floor apartment.

Sherpas Mourns those killed in Everest Avalanche

BUDDHIST monks have cremated the remains of Sherpa guides who were buried in the deadliest avalanche to hit Mount Everest, a disaster that has prompted calls for a climbing boycott by Nepal’s ethnic Sherpa community.
At least 13 Sherpas were killed when a block of ice tore loose from the mountain and triggered a cascade that ripped through teams of guides hauling gear. Three Sherpas missing in Friday’s avalanche are presumed dead.
“Right now, I can’t even think of going back to the mountain,” said Tashi Dorje, whose cousin was killed. “We have not just lost our family members, but it is a loss for the whole mountaineering community and the country.”

The avalanche came just as climbing was to begin in earnest, with mountaineers set to begin moving above base camp and slowly acclimatising to the altitude on the world’s highest mountain. Most attempts to reach the 8,850-metre summit occur in mid-May, when weather is at its most favourable.

Health Alert: Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)

The situation is still evolving.
CDC is working with partners to better understand the risks of this virus, including the source, how it spreads, and how infections might be prevented.
